• at 10:30 a.m. it’s Books and Babies featuring “Ticklish Fingers and Toes.”
• Then, at 4:30 p.m., the Tween Programming movie is “Beethoven.”

Republican women
City commissioner and state Interstate Stream Commissioner Randy Crowder is guest speaker at the Curry County Republican Women’s lunch, 11:30 a.m. at Dakota’s Steakhouse.
It’s open to the public.

On this day in 1991, basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson stuns the world by announcing his sudden retirement from the Los Angeles Lakers, after testing positive for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
At the time, many Americans viewed AIDS as a gay white man’s disease.
