A former New Mexico resident working on a history book is looking for people who remember his parents’ ties to Clovis and a restaurant that no longer stands.
Robert Patrick O’Connor, now of Los Angeles, graduated from Roswell High and earned his degree in 1957 from Eastern New Mexico University.
But his parents, Stan and Jo Durkee, have Clovis ties from the Aristocrat. He writes:
“This was The Aristocrat, a restaurant run by my parents Stan and Jo Durkee in Clovis in 1950, located on West Seventh Street at the southeast corner of West Seventh and Hinkle Street. My parents had earlier managed the restaurant at the Clovis Country Club. Many civic organizations, including the Altrusa, held their meetings in the Aristocrat’s dining room. I wonder if any of your readers have photos of meetings held there.”
O’Connor can be contacted at rbrtptrck@aol.com. He welcomes any photos or communication from anybody who would remember his parents or the Aristocrat.
